Michelle Zaragoza, LCSW

I am a Latina Scholar, Researcher, and Mental Health Therapist.

I am a doctoral student in the School of Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley. Drawing from my experiences as a daughter of immigrants and professional work as a community-based mental health therapist in Los Angeles, my scholarship explores the impact of contemporary racialized state-sanctioned violence on Latine well-being and how social work can help mitigate and resist these conditions. I aim to inform the development of structurally responsive and culturally grounded mental health and policy interventions.

Commitment to Equity & Social Justice

As a social worker academically trained in Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality, I am strongly dedicated to equity and social justice in every aspect of my work. Whether conducting research, providing therapy to clients, or supervising associate-level clinical social workers, I am committed to addressing systemic marginalization and dismantling racist structures & practices.

Scholarship

My scholarship addresses mental health equity among Latine communities. As a community-engaged qualitative scholar, I utilize arts-based and narrative methodologies.

Mental Health Services

As LCSW, I offer Mindfulness and Somatic-Based Mental Health Therapy. I take a holistic approach to cultivating inner peace, embodying authenticity, and aligning mind, body, and spirit.

About Me

I approach my work as a first-generation Latina, the daughter of immigrants, and with a diverse background in social work, psychology, policy, and education.
